COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Musical Bridge submitted by Meginator on June 21, 2020, 2:47pm Musically, the Andrews Sisters form a bridge between the Big Band and rock and roll eras, incorporating several styles of music into their songs and delivering them with inimitable, pitch-perfect harmonies. The songs themselves are often iconic and the trio’s sound has come to define the early 1940s in pop music. Some of the lyrics haven’t aged well, relying on racist stereotypes of foreign cultures, but the love songs are still effective. The Andrews sisters may feel dated by modern standards, but these songs are a testament to their immense talent and open-minded approach to pop music in an era of rapid change.
