This underground epic, which breaks every rule of good filmmaking and good taste, set a benchmark for the bizarre that has never been equaled. Babs Johnson, a trailer park bon vivant proudly claims the title of the filthiest person alive. The envy of every neighborhood degenerate, it isn't long before another couple set their sites on Divine's legacy, and in the proud American tradition, competition forces each contender to outdo the other.

Ummm... Er... It... This.. WHY? submitted by gardenfaerie on June 15, 2019, 4:35pm I absolutely cannot tell you this is a good movie. I also would not tell you not to see it.

It's crass and rude, and not in a good way.

But parts are very funny and the film is certainly groundbreaking for its time.

So... enjoy at your own risk. And LOOK AWAY when you need to!

A degenerate masterpiece for degenerate people submitted by tsartsar on December 9, 2021, 10:38pm Title. The beginning is kind of a slog, but because of the ending scenes I enjoyed it immensely; it advertises filth, and it delivers.

The Past submitted by jibkidder on July 5, 2022, 12:19am It can be hard to contextualize this film for at least a couple of big reasons: for one, the route that transgression and offensiveness have taken in the internet age, and the widespread desensitization (and also hyper-sensitization) to extremity vs. the role transgression had when mainstream media and culture were more of a united front, and secondly, the distinction between the modern consumption of media which is, so often, private, and the raucous, in-person social experience of seeing underground cinema in the theater in the 70s.
