Good start to The Stormlight Archive. It took me a bit to figure out the world and the timeline and who was who, but once I got things straightened out, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sanderson is a monster, consistently churning out sometimes multiple books per year. And while there are still many books expected in this series, at least he's reliable and pretty quick unlike two other infamous fantasy authors who have left fans hanging for over ten years. I would definitely recommend this book and this series.
Specifically about the audiobook version here, I can not stand the male reader. In my opinion, it would have been better if the female reader had done the whole thing. But many fans of this series enjoy this pair, so I'm definitely in the minority with this opinion.
Incredible book, incredible narration submitted by shaight on August 1, 2022, 7:50pm I started The Stormlight Archive series on a road trip and was immediately sucked in, not just by the plot (which starts off with a bang), but also by the narration of Michael Kramer describing the opening scene. Ever since that very first scene, I haven't been able to bring myself to read a physical copy of any of the books myself. I've attempted several times, and each time I give up after a few minutes because it's just not the same. This book, while shorter than the others in the series, is still quite long and that can be daunting. However, I promise it is completely worth it. The characters grow and evolve and the story moves in directions you had no idea it could. Highly recommend this book/series, especially if you enjoy audiobooks at all.
