The performances are universally excellent and several tunes stand alone as outstanding songs, within or outside of the context of the musical. Oh, to have been able to see the original cast on Broadway! At least we've got the album.

The hype is well-deserved! submitted by mariekakaye on August 14, 2018, 2:33pm This is a very special musical about prejudice, friendship, and perseverance - and for Wizard of Oz fans, it offers a richness to a beloved story. I recently saw it at the Detroit Opera House and was blown away, as I hadn't listened to the soundtrack beforehand. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, not knowing what would happen. I sobbed my eyes out, laughed, gasped and enjoyed every minute of it! It's so fun to be able to listen to the original cast recording now, after having seen the performance live! Now how do I get rid of the songs stuck in my head?!
