Cozy Country Christmas submitted by Meginator on June 15, 2023, 11:08pm This is a fairly traditional country Christmas album that hits all of the right notes with a nice balance of common, uncommon, and original songs. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood understand implicitly how to use their voices together and the album feels truly collaborative between them, with some songs featuring only one of them alongside a few duets. This mix prevents the album from becoming dull and, while it isn’t groundbreaking by any means, the country spin feels honest rather than cloying. This is a nice selection to throw in the mix for listeners who enjoy the sounds of the season but who tire of hearing all the same old songs; while a few selections here feel somewhat inevitable (I’m looking at you, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”), others are refreshing and the originals suit the singers and the album’s overall vibe really well.
