Great Use of Their Talents submitted by Meginator on August 29, 2020, 1:28pm Pentatonix is always great, but their arrangements of classic Christmas songs and original additions to the traditional canon are absolutely phenomenal. Something about the group’s dynamic lends itself exceptionally well to this type of music, and they exhibit their full range from soulful ballads in exquisite harmony to cheeky humor that plays off of their voices’ individual and collective timbres. Their song selection is fairly typical, with a mix of classic carols, traditional mid-century holiday tunes, and originals, with Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” thrown in for good measure (sure, it doesn’t really fit, but it’s probably the most emotionally powerful track on the album). My only complaints are that it isn’t generally socially acceptable to listen to holiday music in public all year round and that this album isn’t longer. Bravo.
