A truly holistic worldview submitted by chakumar on July 2, 2014, 10:01am In this book, Ken Wilber presents a staggering integration of literally all world views from East and West (and North and South, if you will)- the concept of a "rainbow coalition" of mind and matter- using arguments that are both logical and intuitive- not "original" arguments per se...but painstakingly, and you sense lovingly, collected from diverse traditions of human knowledge and wisdom....to build a compelling whole....that must resonate with anyone interested...I am bowled over! And like is true for so many great books, it compels you to re-read as soon as you finish it! Only in this case, I am re-listening this very well produced audio CD that's my car companion for the past month. In short, this book provides an accessible bridge- intuitively perceived by the greatest thinkers- but problematic for most of the rest of us- to reconcile the "scientific" worldview that only emphasizes objective knowledge and tries to reduce all subjectivity in terms of objective facts and the contrarian "spiritual" worldview that tends to ignore the objective (as unreal or infra-real) in favor of the "ultimate truth" only accessible through subjective interpretation of all reality. In Wilber's syncretic interpretation, duly referenced to great masters from different traditions, all world-views represent facets of truth, all world-views are valid and necessary, and essentially, objective and subjective duality is false! Thou art That!
