He's also the land's greatest hero, lauded as a Robin Hood by the public. No one knows of Robert Ford, at least not yet. But the ambitious 19-year-old aims to change that. He befriends Jesse and rides with his gang. And if that doesn't bring Ford fame, he will have to find a deadlier way. Friendship becomes rivalry and the quest for fame becomes obsession.

Don't miss this one submitted by clayton on April 20, 2008, 10:41am With "No Country for old Men" and "There will be Blood" sweeping the awards, this movie seemed like a after thought for the votes. In all fairness to the latter film, I've yet to sit down and watch this over hyped drama, but having watched "No Country", I can honestly say to the people who made "The Assassination of Jesse James..", you was robbed !!! The Acting,Composition,Music, and Direction is really well done. There is not a weak frame in the film, and at two and a half hours in running time, that is a amazing feat in itself.Plus how difficult it must have been to tell a story that everyone knows the ending and keep it interesting. So my advice to anyone who has sat through "No Country"in all fairness to this film,it's a really good film, quite good in fact, take some time, without interuptions, and enjoy a really beautiful piece of movie making. The perfect balance of the two main players in this drama,is a joy to behold. The title says it all in so many ways.Enjoy the beautiful soundtrack from Nick Cave as well.

Is it a Dream? submitted by irenzero on July 14, 2008, 12:46pm Wow... I just finished watching this film... and it was amazing. Now before you run out and rent it, let me just say that this isn't the action filled, sexy, noisy western of the past, it's dream like, fairly calm, amazingly well acted by all involved, and it looks like a washed out painting. There is so much style in this film, so many great scene of people just standing or sitting in nature and thinking, feeling, seeking, and reflecting. It's a quite film about the seeking of fame, and it's price. It's a long film but it never drags, it never bores and I am sure that it's one that is going to hold up to repeat viewings. I only wish that I had taken the time to see it on the big screen.

Best movie. Ever. submitted by CasualTim on July 15, 2010, 7:05pm I don't know if I'll ever be able to fully explain why this is the best movie I've ever seen, but I don't want that sentiment to go unsaid. Shepard is great, Pitt is wonderful, Rockwell is superb, Affleck is absolutely unbelievable. The photography is the best cup of coffee you've ever had on the morning of the first snow at the cabin you just bought in the Alps. You could check it out from the library, but as a member of the human race, responsible for sharing in the consumption and preservation of our cultural heritage, you should probably just buy it.
