Great for a short road trip submitted by cherylo on June 15, 2012, 7:31pm A wonderful mythic adventure story read by the author. Just about the perfect length for short family car trips, and engaging enough for the entire family.

A child's tale submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 24, 2022, 11:25am For fans of Neil Gaiman's "Norse Mythology" and "American Gods," the story of Odd will warm your heart, even if the novel is set in a frozen land. Gaiman uses the ancient Norse pantheon in this children's book about a child who doesn't fit in but who nonetheless saves the day. It is a particularly good book for and about children with disabilities, as it treats the subject of prejudice against people with disabilities accurately. This causes the reader to side with our main character but not pity him. Indeed, it is a great story for any kid who feels as if they don't fit in or feels as if they disappoint their parents.
Gaiman includes bifrost, the rainbow bridge to Asgard, and other key elements of the original tales. He also makes the Norse Gods and Goddesses fallible and emotional, indeed very like humans.
