COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Anthemic Pop Rock submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2019, 10:51pm This album represents a bit of a departure from Kiss’s early hard-rock sound, but this brand of pop rock suits them quite well. Heavy with hooks and an anthemic sensibility that comes through quite clearly in the singalong choruses, these tracks capture something essential about the band’s long-lasting appeal that goes beyond their trademark appearance. The songs are excellent and feel instantly familiar, blending characteristic elements of classic rock and 1970s pop into something that effectively presages much of what was to come in the 1980s. “Unmasked” is accessible and fun, not taking itself too seriously and succeeding as easy entertainment in the process. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
