Surprisingly Bad submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 10:44am The Dave Matthews Band is a top-notch live act, so I was absolutely shocked at the poor quality of this album. I don’t know if something was weird with the technicalities of production and/or recording, or if the band just had an off day, but this album seemed to lack the life and innovative, playful spirit that comes across even in the group’s studio recordings (to say nothing of the large number of concert recordings available). Don’t let this album be your first or final impression of DMB as live entertainers; they are so much better than this, and virtually any other recording will serve as fine proof of that. This album is completely skippable for everyone except hardcore fans and completionists.
