Blink-182 in 2017 submitted by Meginator on July 16, 2017, 10:28pm I am of two minds about this album. I think that the stronger tracks are the ones where the band calls back to the pop-punk sound of their heyday, and that the weaker tracks diverge from this sound into blander alt-rock territory (but always with mind-blowingly exceptional drumming). I'm not against progression and reinvention; some of the better tracks encapsulate a classic blink sound while bringing something new to the table. I just can't help but feel that a certain essential component of the band left when Tom did; everything's a bit off.

Then again, California is worth listening to for the drums alone. Travis Barker is impossibly inventive and easily one of the best drummers of all time. Period.
