Fond Farewell submitted by Meginator on July 28, 2017, 6:53pm This album feels like One Direction's farewell to their fans, and it offers a blend of what they do best as well as a fitting tribute to their years together ("History"). Though most of the songs are, lyrically, love songs of one kind or another, the group approaches these themes in a more mature way and often with the kind of humor and charm that won them their loyal admirers in the first place. The music, too, is more varied and complex than on their previous records, and all told the album is more accomplished than you'd expect from a boy band. Indeed it's better than much of their peers' work as well. Well done, lads.
