Unexpected R&B submitted by Meginator on July 2, 2017, 11:55am I didn't quite expect smooth R&B when I picked up this album, but Mayer Hawthorne has a clear sense of the type of music he wants to make and does it fairly well. Each song has a unique feel, even if the lyrics are hardly revolutionary, and I'd be just as satisfied if the album had another three or four tracks in the same vein (it's relatively brief). Nothing here is revolutionary, but nothing needs to be; Hawthorne offers an enjoyable musical experience.
