Americana Across Generations submitted by Meginator on August 24, 2020, 10:40pm Willie Nelson’s deep appreciation of American folk music in all of its forms is never in question, and this project finds him tackling some of the Gershwins’ most famous Broadway tunes. His interpretations encompass several musical styles, from a folk/country blend to a swinging style closer to the original versions, but each track does something interesting, and different, with the source material. There’s something enchanting about a great artist revisiting great work from the past, and this album does justice to the originals while pushing them in interesting new directions, representing a fantastic blend of Nelson’s and the Gershwins’ styles.
