Lecturer: Robert Garland, Colgate University.
People who are anonymous and whose lives are usually ignored in traditional historical accounts are no less important than more prominent individuals in influencing the flow of events. These ordinary, but often heroic, people are the focus of this course. Each of the 48 lectures looks at history from a nontraditional perspective, that of the weak and marginalized-- the poor, sick, disabled, and elderly, as well as the refugees, slaves, women, children, and common soldiers.
DVD; Dolby Digital Plus.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Awesome submitted by seadocks on August 15, 2013, 7:53pm I really liked learning about the real people that lived in the past. Most of the time history is all about the rulers, leaders, and armies of history, or the technology. This set of lectures talks about the everyday people that lived in the past. It is great because most of the people that will watch these lectures, especially from libraries, are everyday people from out time period and we get to see our counterparts in the past. I liked the fact that the guy giving the lectures was also very passionate about what he was teaching. Great Stuff.
