Why is Oppenheimer eating that alien? submitted by pkooger on April 8, 2013, 2:45pm I'm not sure how I feel about The Manhattan Projects yet. It doesn't really fit into a rigidly defined category. It's completely riveting, but I don't know if I would describe it as great. It does that thing that's so popular these days (I'm looking at you, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter) where you take historical figures and rewrite their bios to make them science fiction characters. As I read the story, I found myself constantly wondering whether any of the characters' personalities were based on their real life counterparts, or if it was totally made up from start to finish. I wish we could get some sort of "Behind the Scenes" featurette where the author talks about what he learned about these scientists in real life. Wikipedia will only take you so far.
