Read by George K. Wilson.
The bestselling author of A History of the World in 6 Glasses brilliantly charts how foods have transformed human culture through the ages--from ancient times when the first civilizations were built on barley and wheat in the Near East, millet and rice in Asia, and corn and potatoes in the Americas, to modern times when the foods we choose in the supermarket connect us to global debates about trade, development, the environment, and the adoption of new technologies.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fantastic Information! submitted by echternk on June 28, 2012, 8:29am Those ignorant of history are bound to repeat it. This history of food provides a perspective on the world we live in in a manner that never crossed my mind. Food shapes the course of human history, and has been used to regulate society, grow empires, and as a weapon in both regular and ideological warfare. This material is highly recommended to all who wish to gain perspective on life.
