songwriters are able to match, not to mention great guitar work too.
the first track sets the tone,and he even manages some tongue in cheek humor along the way

I was surprised to find that this album sticks to a singer-songwriter vibe with few hints of Isbell's previous experience in country music, but it feels completely natural as Isbell bares his soul with songs that speak of hard work, regret, and possible redemption. This is an album to savor, one that builds a connection between the artist and listener with only a few chords. Highly recommended.
