Teenage Perfection submitted by hcf on June 14, 2013, 8:41pm I loved this movie. I cried more than once ~ some tears of sadness, some tears of joy. I felt it really captured that time in a teenager's life.

Back in time submitted by crazypockets on June 19, 2013, 5:19pm I had mixed feelings on this movie. I'd loved the book back in high school, but watching it on screen as an adult, it felt really awkward. I was reminded of just how rough those years were, and of how ridiculous some of the things we did were. It didn't hold the same truths for me as the book did back then. And I couldn't help being grossed out at the idea of high school kids performing "Rocky Horror." That was a big part of the book, and at the time I read it, I thought nothing of it, but now it just seems creepy. Maybe another sign I've gotten old. The ending lines rang true though and sort of summed up the whole experience for me.

I think this is still a realistic depiction of what high school is really like, but it was still hard for me to watch. Would be great for teens today though like the book was for me back then, or for adults who really want to get nostalgic about high school in the 90s/00s.

Great submitted by tslj98 on August 4, 2013, 10:19pm Very sad, but touching movie

Heartwarming submitted by alumeng.ajl on August 19, 2013, 4:04pm I adored this movie. There were some aspects of the book that were cut that I had hoped would remain (e.g. *SPOILER* Charlie's sister's abortion *SPOILER*) but otherwise, it was a great adaptation and a wonderful film.

Great movie submitted by hornv on July 12, 2014, 4:39pm It was awesome! Heartwarming as well.

True to the book submitted by yojasor on July 14, 2014, 8:56am really stuck to the story well. They depicted the characters very well which was greatly appreciated.

Another teenage angst movie submitted by GJBarnett2 on August 29, 2015, 10:32pm ... but a cut above. Good enough it made me want to read the book.

Coming of Age movie submitted by toschag on August 3, 2016, 12:51pm Another teen coming of age movie. Like many other movies like this glamorized or polarized the high school experience. Feels too epic/intense for high schoolers.

High School Reality submitted by Meginator on July 18, 2017, 6:59am This film does a good job of depicting a lot of the experience of high school and the heightened emotions that go with it, both good and bad. The subject matter can be quite intense at times, but this film handles its difficult subjects with care and in a way that teenage audiences can relate to. The actors are convincing and the story feels real; the film can even have an emotional impact beyond its intended audience.

TW for abuse and suicide.

5 of 5 stars. submitted by cullerth on July 11, 2018, 10:40pm The ultimate teen anthem - in movie form.

I remember reading the book senior year of high school and then watching this freshman year of college at the university theater and just getting all in my feelings about the perpetual relatable-ness of it all.

Good submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 1:10am Really stuck to the story well. They depicted the characters very well which was great.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower submitted by Varshini on July 3, 2019, 7:46pm I loved the book, so I watched the movie. The movie was pretty good, but I liked the book better.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower submitted by lstorc on July 8, 2019, 7:13pm This is a depressing coming of age movie. It's done well enough to make one look back and cringe at the things one did when younger. I recommend it over other coming of age tales due to its realism.
