An Amalgamation of Styles submitted by Meginator on August 23, 2020, 6:15pm This album represents an interesting reimagination and amalgamation of several older musical styles, with a steady core of New Orleans jazz accompanied by lyrics in the grand storytelling tradition of blues and country, with some early rock and roll and honky tonk accents thrown in for good measure. It’s definitely different, a lively series of reinventions with a healthy dose of humor in the lyrics to keep things light. The overall result is surprisingly effective, seeming on its surface like an imitation of the past but gradually revealing itself to be a new combination of a succession of influential traditions.
