They've prepared for every contingency - except John McClane, an off-duty cop seized by a feeling of deadly déjà vu.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

love it submitted by jszchen on August 26, 2011, 9:43pm Bruce Willis takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin', nearly outdoing himself in one of the great actioneers of our time. DIE HARD 2 has everything a true action fan could ever want: explosions, chases, plot twists, suspense, drama and all that other good stuff.

A Letdown Sequel submitted by Meginator on June 20, 2023, 2:09pm Although it has its fair share of excellent setpieces and high-stakes action, this film is a massive disappointment coming after its inventive predecessor. Where “Die Hard” found John McClane straining to make the most out of a small setting and limited resources, here the constraints feel less natural because of the story’s overly broad scope. Instead of a single nemesis (and his henchmen), John McClane must contend with both a terrorist group and the local airport police; unfortunately, however, neither of these make for a captivating foil amid an increasingly complicated plot that makes little room for memorable character development in either its heroes or its villains. Many of the film’s action scenes are excellent, including a particularly memorable early sequence in the airport’s luggage room and a spectacular explosion, but the film simply moves from one to the next without meaningful connective tissue, its twists failing to generate anything more than unnecessary complexity. In the end, the film forgets what made “Die Hard” so interesting and instead falls into a predictable mold that offers some big-bang entertainment but little of actual interest.
