Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy, Robert Popper, Joe Cornish, Chris Waitt, Eric Mason, Billie Whitelaw, Nick Frost, Peter Wight, Julia Deakin.
Nicholas Angel is the finest cop London has to offer. He has an arrest record that is higher than any other officer on the force. As a result, Angel's superiors send him to a place where his talents won't be quite so obvious. They send him to the sleepy and seemingly crime-free village of Sandford. He is partnered with the well-meaning but overeager police officer Danny Butterman, who is the son of the police chief. Danny is a huge action movie fan and believes this may be his chance to experience the life of gunfights and car chases. However, as a series of grisly accidents rocks the village, Angel is convinced that Sandford is not what it seems and as the intrigue deepens, Danny's dreams of explosive, high-octane, car-chasing, gunfighting, all-out action seem more and more like a reality.
DVD, region 1, anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 EX surround, single-sided, DVD-9.

Buddy Cop Parody submitted by clayton on September 29, 2007, 7:18am Following the minor success of "Shawn of the Dead". The Director was givin' more money and time for his next project. Hot Fuzz is the resulting film, a very funny and clever tale on the warnings of achieving a perfect society, told by way of the buddy cop film. This film may take you several watchings to catch all the sly references, but be warned, there are a couple of very horrific deaths and a constant flow of cussing. So not for the young, but a joy for those who enjoy a smart comedy.

Worth Seeing submitted by jaegerla on March 16, 2010, 9:30am This film explores the role of police in society and their interactions with other institutions in western culture. It can be summed up as a brilliant mixed homage to two genres: british mysteries and cop action films. Expect Miss Marple combined with Point Blank. The film editing moves in a flash forward sequence and also features several picturesque scenes of the English countryside.

good movie submitted by jszchen on August 26, 2011, 7:18pm This was a surprisingly funny movie

Hilarious and clever submitted by klickitat on August 9, 2012, 11:13am Very clever send up of action and buddy cop films. If you like this, try THE OTHER GUYS (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1373628) although be aware it's not as good as this movie.

Love Simon Pegg submitted by crazypockets on July 23, 2013, 12:30pm Another great one from the team that made "Shaun of the Dead." This time, Simon Pegg plays a very uptight, by the letter cop who is reassigned to a small town in the countryside of England. Strange murders begin taking place, and he tries to investigate with little help from the locals. There are some very funny moments. It's gory and over-the-top and just what you'd expect from this comedy team. The best part though is Timothy Dalton. He is so good at being creepy and charming at the same time!

Five Stars! submitted by wendylv on June 20, 2016, 12:03pm There is no more perfect parody of the cop-movie genre out there than this hilarious gem. Absolutely fabulous.

Decent submitted by Rumshaker13 on August 3, 2018, 2:36pm Not bad, funny in parts
