"Join us as we explore this missing piece of Jim Henson's career in a celebration of his creative process. Discovered in the Archives of The Jim Henson Company, A Tale of Sand is an original graphic novel adaptation of an unproduced, feature-length screenplay written by Jim Henson and his frequent writing partner, Jerry Juhl. A Tale of Sand follows scruffy everyman, Mac, who wakes up in an unfamiliar town, and is chased across the desert of the American Southwest by all manners of man and beast of unimaginable proportions." --Provided by publisher.

An opportunity missed submitted by Pumpkinscones on June 25, 2013, 3:06pm This is a beautiful book – the graphic novelization of Jim Henson's screenplay that never got made. It swirls around you, carries you along and offers an insight into what could have been a cult classic. Tis bizarre.
Excellent submitted by lstorc on August 31, 2018, 11:50pm This is a poignant graphic novel of Jim Henson's potential for adult audiences.
A Must-Read for Any Henson Fan

Henson had a tendency towards experimental film and this graphic novel captures Henson exploring that side of his art. With the screenplay mostly written before any of the Henson work you are most familiar with (Sesame Street, the Muppet Show and movies), you can get an understanding of where his mind was at in that early part of his career, just before he went all-in on puppetry. The art is excellent, properly capturing the story despite extremely minimal dialogue.
If you love Henson, I'd also recommend the six-part Defunctland series on Youtube.
Fun but a little outdated submitted by dntanzer on August 28, 2019, 11:21pm I liked the idea behind this untold. It's definitely interesting. I found some of the art to be stereotypical portrayals of different people though and I'd love to see it branch out beyond those ideas.
