Originally released as a motion picture in 2012.
Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine.
It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.
DVD, region 1, widescreen; Dolby Digital 5.1.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Well done Mr. Nolan submitted by pkooger on January 21, 2013, 3:04pm I really enjoyed the final installment of Nolan's Batman films. Whatever you say about Nolan's delivery, you must admit he has his finger on the pulse of society. This film spends a lot of time talking about (and fighting about) class inequalities and class warfare. I doubt that sending an army of ex-cons to terrorize Wall Street would have helped the financial crisis much, but it's interesting to see that scenario played out, especially with Batman and Catwoman thrown in. It was a fun movie.

The Dark Knight Rises submitted by pubudu on June 15, 2013, 7:13pm I thought this movie was amazing. It was fascinating to watch how much Bruce Wayne had to go through in order to save Gotham City from the masked terrorist known as Bane. Batman, now proclaimed as a fugitive, also has to get used to being hunted down by the police. I thought Catwoman was a nice addition as she manages to allure Batman with her schemes.

Bane Stole the Show submitted by crazypockets on June 18, 2013, 4:27pm This movie was a lot of fun! It was a nice ending to the darker, more serious Batman trilogy. Tom Hardy was great as Bane and in my opinion made the movie. Anne Hathaway wasn't as annoying as I'd expected, but she was still a little annoying. In any case, I liked the political and societal intrigue this movie had that kept at the heart of the Batman tradition.

Dark Knight Rises submitted by SBNB on June 26, 2014, 7:16pm Great! Definitely worth watching!

okay submitted by tawesomenessk on June 13, 2015, 11:35am this movie was good, but it was too long to watch and I got bored.

Nope submitted by squared_sea on June 13, 2015, 9:17pm I was not impressed. The movie was predictable and Batman looked like a bobblehead.

good submitted by leenajong on August 5, 2015, 5:06pm This movie is good. We enjoyed it.

Great film submitted by ishhewitt on July 10, 2016, 1:07pm The batman reboots were all done so well. Love these films. Definitely recommend!

Dark Knight Rises submitted by staceylbrockman on July 16, 2016, 2:46pm A bit dark (thought not as dark as #2). Good move; well done.

Good submitted by AprilCDB on August 1, 2016, 11:44am I thought the movie was good, lots of action. Took a while for me to figure out the story line.

Superhero Movie Revival submitted by toschag on August 3, 2016, 12:40pm When it came out this movie gave me hope in superhero movies again. Gritty, somewhat full of plot holes, but gripping and the Joker is very compelling.

Batman submitted by SolaireFQ on August 27, 2016, 1:44pm The last of Nolan's Batman trilogy. It is a really good end. Good cast and good end.

Depth of a Superhero submitted by Meginator on July 20, 2017, 3:14pm Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is evidence that superheroes need be neither light nor shallow to be compelling characters. This final installment, though not as good as the middle film, offers another look at a complex, nuanced Batman, who must make difficult choices about what it means to be, or not be, a hero. The plot can be a bit confusing on the first viewing, and the CGI isn't always completely convincing, but the film moves along at a brisk pace despite its length and offers plenty of action to counter its quieter moments. The added characters of Bane and Selina Kyle slot well into the established universe, and the acting, direction, cinematography, sets, and music are all of the highest quality. Nolan's Batman trilogy marks a turning point in superhero movies, and though it's very much of its own historical context, the films should age gracefully.

Excellent submitted by KOH on August 13, 2017, 10:52am The final installment of this trilogy does not disappoint. I loved it.

Batman submitted by tbbrown76 on June 30, 2018, 7:03pm Nice plot. Good actors. But, the ONLY Batman is Adam West. 4/5 stars.

Good submitted by Kanchan21 on August 12, 2018, 5:44am Enjoyed watching this movie

Good ending to the trilogy submitted by Xris on January 2, 2019, 12:19am Loved Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Interesting twist at the end as to who the child was that got out of the pit. Will be interested to see if they ever do a movie about Robin after this.

The dark knight rises submitted by avrogers1 on June 20, 2019, 7:36pm I really love the Batman movies. They just keep getting better.

Dang submitted by ferromef on June 23, 2019, 3:49pm Very cool

Good submitted by c_zhang on June 30, 2019, 4:17pm I thought the movie was good, lots of action. Took a while for me to figure out the story line.

Overrated submitted by SaraP on July 25, 2019, 12:09pm A nice adaptation of the "Broken Bat" story line, but compared to the other Nolan Batman films, it's not very good. Anne Hathaway's Catwoman is pretty strong though.

Batman submitted by crp on August 15, 2019, 9:15pm Another Batman enjoyable movie; cat woman makes it even better

Nice submitted by hemanth on August 19, 2019, 6:02pm I thought this movie was amazing. It was fascinating to watch how much Bruce Wayne had to go through in order to save Gotham City from the masked terrorist known as Bane. Batman, now proclaimed as a fugitive, also has to get used to being hunted down by the police. Which will make it so hard to make people safe.

Rise of the Batman submitted by desuka81 on July 27, 2021, 1:02pm One of the best Batman movie of all time. Great story and great acting by all actors.
