COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Full of Surprises submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2022, 9:18am This recording is full of surprises and feels incredibly modern even though it dates to the early Romantic period. The “Symphonie Fantastique” follows a slightly unexpected structural path and each of the movements has a unique character that plays well into the whole. The overtures too are impressive in their ability to quickly and effectively convey an idea, and Leonard Bernstein’s conducting emphasizes the composer’s big moments wonderfully. This is an incredibly accessible collection of orchestral music with a very contemporary sensibility to it that will appeal to a lot of modern listeners.
