Mellow Rock submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2017, 10:14am This album features downtempo rock songs that usually land just short of being true ballads. I appreciate the fact that Dawes frequently uses guitar solos in much the same way that a lot of classic rock artists do, which is seemingly infrequent from most newer bands. Though classic rock and, maybe, folk music influence their indie sound, I also detected hints of country and jazz on a few tracks. This is an album that might not make a huge immediate impression, but there's a lot going on beneath the surface.
