Good, But It Lacks Strong Hooks submitted by Meginator on August 17, 2020, 11:29pm Though this album lacks the immediately memorable choruses of some of Hootie & the Blowfish’s early work, it marks an interesting stage in the evolution of their sound. The base remains an early 1990s pop rock vibe, with occasional touches of country influences that presage Darius Rucker’s future work as a solo country artist. Rucker is an excellent storyteller and the lyrics are often nicely crafted, but this album, though good, doesn’t quite recapture the magic of Cracked Rear View.
