COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fine, I guess submitted by pkooger on February 28, 2013, 1:10pm Andrew Garfield makes a great Peter Parker. In fact, most of the actors are really good. There's not much else beside the acting that is very good. It's a very pretty film, in the way of most high budget Hollywood action films. The writing is not the most interesting. The "science" is laughable, even by superhero movie standards. And isn't it just so convenient that the woman Peter Parker has a crush on, Gwen Stacey, is also the assistant to the scientist who was Peter Parker's dad's partner, and Gwen Stacey just happens to also be the daughter of the NYPD police chief who is tracking Spiderman. Thank goodness he didn't fall for Mary Jane Watson this time. He would've been totally out of the loop.

pretty good submitted by bgpeterson on April 6, 2013, 2:30pm I like Andrew Garfield as spider-man, he plays the part very well. It is pretty funny how everything fits into place with Gwen, her dad, peters parents and Dr. Conner all working togather

The Amazing Spider-Man submitted by pubudu on June 15, 2013, 7:37pm After the production of Spiderman 4 was shut down, Sony managed to bring our favorite superhero back to the big screen. This movie provides a backstory to how Peter Parker got his spider powers and who his parents were. This time Spidey is battling against the Lizard, who is also Dr. Connors, and it's not easy as Peter is still struggling to get his powers under control. I thought the new Spiderman even managed to surpass Raimi's Spiderman as it manages to appeal to the entire family.

Better Than First Version submitted by crazypockets on June 18, 2013, 5:03pm I almost gave up on this after about 45 minutes…it just seemed to drrrraaaaag. I probably wouldn’t have thought that if I hadn’t seen all of the Tobey Maguire ones though. It’s incredibly stupid of them to remake a movie that just came out a few years ago, but overall I think it was better done than the originals. This was what those ones should’ve been. But yeah, it was basically the same movie, just a little less comic booky like the Dark Knight trilogy (which was a good thing). Once the action got going, I liked it a lot more. Like I said, this is the movie they should’ve made in the first place.

Not bad submitted by nwall24 on July 8, 2013, 10:50pm Generally sticks to the comic. Watching it in 3-D is pretty cool. Not bad for a super hero movie.

Life imitates art? submitted by hathaway1066 on August 7, 2014, 12:13pm I had a student last year who I now realize was a clone of the Andrew Garfield--had his mannerisms and even was similar in physical 'type' and appearance. Watching popular movies like this often does that for me; shows me why a certain make-up/hair/etc. style is all the rage.

So watching this movie could help you understand young people, if you need that.

Also, it was a fun thrill-ride. I liked the Tobey Maguire versions maybe a little better, but this was good enough to be enjoyable.

ok submitted by Drake Emmitt on August 15, 2014, 12:52am This is an ok movie to watch, doesn't seem the same with a different spiderman though.

Loved it submitted by jding00 on August 19, 2014, 3:49pm I loved this new show! Better than the old one.

Good movie submitted by beeniepie on August 27, 2014, 8:41pm This was a great character-developed version of Spiderman. I loved that they allowed for more of a backstory to unfold, along with more time between Peter and his Uncle Ben. The chemistry between Peter and Gwen Stacey was crackling, which was a big improvement over the Maguire/Dunst pairing.

So good submitted by ishhewitt on July 10, 2016, 2:37pm This reboot is much better than the McGuire editions. Much better acting and character actor choices.

I prefer Toby submitted by toschag on August 4, 2016, 7:11pm This has a different feel than the early 2000's, and I think I liked them better. Spidey is a lot younger and more comedic.

I was surprised submitted by KOH on August 5, 2017, 9:16pm I'm a fan of the Toby movies, but I thought this was fun! Worth watching.

A good and gutsy movie submitted by tcrbondy on June 16, 2018, 7:18pm Maybe a little convoluted with villains, but honestly the best depiction of spider-man of the previous 4 films

I love all things Spidey. submitted by tbbrown76 on July 10, 2018, 8:41am This, though, could have been better. But, I'm not complaining. I just wanted a little more.

spider 2012 submitted by yufamily on August 17, 2022, 7:02pm Toby is better than Tom Holland

Underrated submitted by APluss on July 30, 2023, 8:46am People give Andrew Garfield a hard time, but he's actually a really good Peter Parker.
