Alex Fletcher is a washed-up 80s pop star who has been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit of county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning pop diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her. The only problem is that Alex has not written a song in years, he has never written lyrics, and what's worse, he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Sophie Fisher is Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship with the newly famous novelist Sloan Cates, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears and the music if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.
DVD, region 1, widescreen presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, DVD-9, dual-layer.

Feel-Good Movie submitted by sophiemarie on June 17, 2015, 7:46am FIVE STARS! This movie is great to watch if you want to feel happy, romantic, and if you want to laugh! Its really a feel-good movie!

A Lot of Fun submitted by krogers on July 22, 2018, 5:52pm Definitely repeatable as a romantic comedy, but the best part is probably the music - all the way around. From the pop parodies, to the original songs, that part of the film was really well thought out. Hugh Grant also really pulls off the "loveable jerk" character and comes through in the end - predictable, but still really fun to watch.

Pitch-Perfect Rom-Com submitted by Meginator on August 24, 2020, 10:36pm This delightful romantic comedy hits all of the right notes, following the usual rom-com plot and character arcs with very little angst. What distinguishes this film is its use of pop music as a driver of the characters’ relationship: the music and lyrics are integrated seamlessly into the story, providing an excellent send-up of 80s pop (delivered by Hugh Grant, who is clearly having a great time with the role without taking himself too seriously) and creating character depth while moving the plot along. Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant have excellent, natural chemistry, and the support cast nails their marks as well. The film could dive a bit deeper into its characters’ insecurities and flaws, but it still works well as a breezy rom-com with its sense of familiarity and a memorable distinguishing characteristic. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for that classic rom-com formula; it’s pitch-perfect.

Typical romcom submitted by mandevil on February 20, 2021, 5:47pm Kristen Johnson steals every scene she’s in which is great. I love Hugh Grant but he is really showing his age in this one, I guess that’s part of the plot. His romance with Drew Barrymore is almost plausible but not quite.
