identity and family
submitted by camelsamba on August 28, 2020, 3:41pm
The premise is fairly unrealistic: detective Cassie Maddox looks *just like* a woman who turned up murdered, and since she has experience doing undercover work, they'll send her in to the commune-like setting where the murdered woman lived. Use some bandages to cover up body mics, and write off any mistakes as a side effect of a head injury. Easy, right?
If you can suspend disbelief, the story that unfolds is quite intriguing, as French dives into the psychology of various characters and explores the nature of identity and family, both our natural family and those we choose.
I don't know if the narrators of the audiobook versions of Dublin Murder Squad have authentic Irish accents but they are a joy to listen to.
Stays with you after you read it submitted by rincess on August 8, 2022, 11:56am I have thought about the beautiful in-depth character descriptions in this book long after I read it-- The author has outdone herself with this one. I could almost picture the house the main characters live in, the food they ate, the fateful shed where a main character ends up and so forth. I think this may be one of my favorite Tana French books and its a great next one for the Dublin Murder Squad series.
