They are forced to fend for themselves in the aftermath of fires that swept entire cities from the face of the earth.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Really Sad submitted by punsingh on July 14, 2015, 4:03pm This is by far the most sad and tragic animated movies I have ever seen. The helplessness of the boy Seiko to the tragic deaths of his family is devastating. His efforts to lift his sister Setsuko out of poverty , hunger and disease are all in vain. War is terrible. Do not watch with kids who will be afraid of death and disease.

Such a good film submitted by majean on August 17, 2018, 8:20pm I cried before the opening credits.

Left me speechless submitted by blancharddana on June 21, 2022, 2:43pm This is one of those movies that will live in my head forever. I'm glad I watched it, but boy does it hit hard. It's difficult to stare the devastation and trauma of war in the face, especially through the eyes of children. The struggles that the most vulnerable people in a society undergo during complete collapse is often overlooked from a historical context. This movie makes that impossible to ignore.
