"What scientific principle is at work in every theme park ride the Imagineers create? It's Energy. The Imagineers reveal the role energy plays in popular theme park attractions such as Epcot's Test Track and the Mad Tea Party. Students will learn that energy is the ability to do work and that energy is constantly being transferred from one thing to another. They will also identify the difference between potential and kinetic energy and be able to establish examples and benefits of renewable energy."--Container.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Come for the Science, Stay for the Unintentional Nostalgia submitted by Meginator on July 24, 2019, 10:36pm This brief educational film, aimed at a late elementary to early middle school audience, explores the ways in which some basic scientific principles related to energy propel popular Disney theme park attractions. The script has some cringeworthy humor that should appeal to viewers in this age group, and host Asa Kalama delivers his lines with upbeat energy and exaggerated humor that is just genuine enough to work. Some of the concepts and examples are a bit confusing, but when used in conjunction with a proper curriculum (and the knowledge of an instructor more versed in these topics than I am) these real-world examples of energy in motion should help to make the ideas stick. Personally, I also appreciated the unintentional nostalgia associated with Test Track’s original (and vastly superior) incarnation (RIP) and the fully audio-animatronic (and vastly superior) Expedition: Everest Yeti (RIP). Despite a few hiccups, I’d say that the film does a pretty good job of introducing some complicated, broad scientific concepts in an engaging and educational manner.
