Before Monday submitted by pkooger on February 7, 2013, 12:33pm You know that song, "Killing Me Softly"? When I watched this movie, I had the exact same feeling that the woman in the song feels. I don't think I've ever seen a film that felt more in tune with my own experience. It's an uncanny feeling to see your own thoughts and emotions represented so clearly by fictional characters. It should come as no shock to you that I think "Weekend" is brilliant. Being gay in an aggressively heterosexual culture is a challenge that you can meet in several ways, and the characters of Russell and Glen demonstrate two very different approaches to that struggle. That might seem like the main message in a film like this, but really it's about the intense connection that two people can feel at the beginning of a relationship. "Weekend" actually has a lot in common with the films "Before Sunset" and "Before Sunrise". The two characters are essentially falling in love with each other, but they only have two days before they will be separated. I liked "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset", but I loved "Weekend".

Too real submitted by answer-beat on May 26, 2023, 1:44pm Agree with the other review, this is basically gay British Linklater and it's gorgeous, sad, and touching, and it looks absolutely beautiful.
