Amanda lives in Los Angeles and is a movie trailer editor. Iris lives in Surrey, England and is a journalist. The two live five thousand miles apart and have never met, but are dealing with the same problem: men. Amanda just broke up with her cheating boyfriend. Iris has pined for her ex. They both come upon a website that advocates home exchange and the two swap houses for two weeks at Christmas - both with a goal to forget their troubled love lives. Love ends up finding them anyways. Amanda starts a romance with Iris' older brother, Graham, a book editor and Iris starts a romance with a friend of Amanda's, movie composer Miles. With new found romance, both their lives change forever.

GUMPTION submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:50pm This is one of my favorite movies, and every time I watch it I find something new to appreciate. Building on familiar rom-com territory, the script offers two distinct, yet equally valid, stories of women falling in love while seeking to escape their daily lives during the Christmas holiday: Amanda falls immediately into a passionate, physical relationship and Iris learns to love (and advocate for) herself before a friendship blossoms into something more. The leads have outstanding chemistry and the acting lends the film serious dramatic depth in equal measure to heartwarming comedy. This film is for anyone who values women’s stories, and anyone who believes that the romcom is more than just a tired formula; instead, it is a lens through which we can better understand ourselves, hopefully having some fun (and finding love, in many forms) along the way.
Really cute! submitted by Abbie D. on July 25, 2022, 5:23pm We watch it every year around Christmas
