Inimitable Talent submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2020, 9:35pm Janis Joplin’s extremely expressive vocal style and incomparable talent are on full display throughout this album, which includes two of her best-known songs (“Bobby McGee” and “Mercedes Benz”). Her mix of the blues and psychedelic rock is a unique combination, unparalleled before or since despite many would-be imitators. Every track is a gem and offers something intriguing, while the whole album has a consistent, pleasant vibe firmly rooted to its time. “Pearl” is a perfect snapshot of the end of the hippie era, a fitting final legacy of a brilliant artist who died too soon but made an indelible mark on the world. It's incredible.
