Harold is an IRS agent who has lived a dull existence. One day he begins to hear Karen's voice as she narrates what she is putting down on paper. Harold enlists the help of a literary professor to find out what is happening and ends up changing things about his life. Witty and charming submitted by cherylo on July 20, 2011, 8:12pm This is one of my favorite movies ever. It is sweet and silly, but also existential in its themes. There are some wonderful jokes playing with conventions, and homophones. The graphics and artistic design enhance everything wonderfully. Definitely surreal, it may not be to everyone's tastes.

stranger than fiction submitted by hcf on July 30, 2014, 4:10pm will ferrell showing off a bit more of his dramatic chops

Give it a Try submitted by SurfGrape on June 17, 2017, 9:01am This isn't for everyone. It breaks the fourth wall. It's surreal. It's strange.

But it's also charming and witty and fun. Give it a try.

Also one of my favorite movies ever. submitted by lisa on July 18, 2019, 4:11pm I wonder what else cherylo likes. :)

Peculiar but likable submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on July 29, 2019, 4:28pm This is worth a watch, if just to see Will Pharrell do a bit of drama. It’s kind a cool to see a new premise for a movie these days of such repetition. Themes of fate, destiny, and life and death. Deep but not intimidating. Enjoyed it

Lovely movie submitted by Helengio on July 10, 2023, 3:32pm I thought this was a lovey, humorous, heartfelt film unlike anything I'd seen before (at the time).

A No Vote from Me. submitted by KidBlue on August 25, 2023, 9:31pm I did no like this movie at all. The female lead played by Maggie Gyllenhaal was not a likable character at all. Will Ferrell‘s character was dull and uninteresting throughout. There was no chemistry between the two of them at all. There was no comedy relief in the film at all. The ending was very predictable. A waste of time.
