Originally released as a motion picture in 2006.
Based on the idea by Guillermo Arriaga and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Gael García Bernal, Koji Yoshida, Adriana Barraza, Rinko Kikuchi, Mustapha Rachidi.
A wealthy American is touring Morocco with his wife. The two become the focus of an international incident also involving a poor Moroccan farmer who is struggling to keep his two young sons in line and his family together. A San Diego nanny, with her employers absent, makes the disastrous decision to take her charges with her to a wedding in Mexico. A deaf-mute Japanese teen tries to deal with a relationship with her father and the world in general that has been upended by the death of her mother. It's about a gun. It's about communication - or the lack of it - both intercultural and intracultural. Raises issues like terrorism and immigration, and is as basic as husbands talking to their wives and parents understanding their children.
DVD, region 1, widescreen presentation; Dolby Digital.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

a real dissappointment submitted by btmiller on March 8, 2007, 2:50pm I thought this film would be great but it was a real dissapointment.

at 2 hrs and 22 min it was way to long, the story was hard to follow, and at the end it did not seem to fit alltogether.

Brad Pitt had a very minor roll in the overall film.

I guess you need to see it and then make up your own mind.

powerful submitted by jjdijkstra81 on July 11, 2012, 5:57am one of those movies where there are multiple stories and side plots happening. thought it was very powerful, eye opening movie to some of the travesties of the world in and out of the USA.

Pretty good submitted by shumoon on August 3, 2015, 6:30am If you like films with several interconnected plots (e.g., Syriana, Traffic, Crash), then you'll like this film. Rinko Kikuchi gives a breakout performance. Cate Blanchett is as good as ever.

Connected submitted by markwells on June 17, 2022, 11:23am I do like the way the subplots all connected in this movie. Good story, good acting. Maybe a touch too long. Grade: A-.
