Spooktacular 2010 submitted by jaegerla on October 9, 2010, 11:54am Is it possible to make a movie scarier than The Omen? I saw this for the first time when I was 24 and it left me spooked for days. Even looking at the cover gives me a little shiver up the spine. It says something about the quality of the film that it creates such a melancholy and shocking effect on the audience. A good horror movie brings out the superstitious side of a person and makes them second-guess their idea of the world around them, and this movie definitely gets to the root of a lot of peoples’ fears. The lack of special effects helps The Omen still seem fresh. The scenes do not feel as dated as other horror movies from the 1970’s, such as The Exorcist or The Amityville Horror (since today’s technology can make those seem practically cheesy). If anyone out there decides to watch this for the first time I strongly suggest immediately following it up by watching the most light hearted thing you can think of. Suggestions: Sixteen Candles, The Princess Bride, or Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

pretty good, and the 2006 remake is very similar to the original. submitted by Tassos on April 15, 2021, 8:27pm Most horror films suck, but the Omen is viewable again and again, and is pretty good every time.
