My first slice of CAKE submitted by soccerstar on June 21, 2013, 4:55pm CAKE is in my top favorite bands because the number of their songs that I don't like fits on one hand. I like every single track on most of their albums, and this one is no exception. CAKE blends guitar, brass and a slightly monotone voice to create a unique sound. The lyrics to their songs are clever, and they form really fun songs that are great to blast. CAKE ranges different sounds but is classified as rock.

Great CD, some small scratches submitted by gladaaro on June 22, 2018, 10:14am Wonderful album, continues Cake's funk/ska/jazz/rock themes, with the hit Girl with a Short Skirt and Loooooong Jacket. The cd is a little scratched so there are a few spots where it skips.

"Now today is tomorrow, and tomorrow is today..." submitted by Jember on February 20, 2023, 11:32am Truthfully, despite Italian Leather Sofa being one of my favorite songs of all time (thanks Mission Hill!), I had never actually listened to a full CAKE album before. To say that I was excited would be an understatement, and while my expectations weren't the highest due to folks panning it for being too similar to previous albums, I am also one of those folks who doesn't mind a band who is almost consistent to a fault.

Lots of the songs of here are great. While I am not a huge fan of the instrumental track, Arco Arena, and I think Shadow Stabbing is a surprisingly weak track, the rest of it is wonderful. It is difficult to describe, but the entire album has this very like...modern vibe. It is laid back sounding for the most part, but the lyrics describe topics such as consumerism and industrialism and such. It feels so relatable, in that sense.

Overall, a great album, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has even a passing interest in CAKE's discography.
