COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Highly recommendable submitted by neit on July 21, 2018, 12:56am Inspirational true-life story. Helps us understand our existence on earth; great lessons. Excellent acting and well-made film. A Classic!

Inspiring submitted by lstorc on August 31, 2018, 10:09pm This is a beautifully told inspirational tale that can hold it's weight even in modern times. It's a little heavy-handed, but worth it.

Poignant submitted by gem on July 27, 2019, 8:02am A beautiful, but difficult story to watch. I found myself surprised by the change in some of the characters over time. I liked how different ones stepped in throughout the film to stand by this young lady. There were a few characters who I wanted to turn the tables on for their treatment of this teen (and later, woman). And yes, I cried a few times...

Worth the watch!

There is also a theatrical trailer and a biography of Jennifer Jones from the DVD that was pretty good. The biography had a lot of interesting details about the actress.

Lots to enjoy about it submitted by tcramer318 on July 25, 2023, 7:17am I'd heard references to this one from Call the Midwife and a couple of other places. I was excited to see Anne Revere as Bernadette's mother and a younger Vincent Price as one of the villains. I think the movie itself is well-crafted, and from a historical perspective a 1943 film about grassroots resistance to an overbearing authority banning freedom of assembly and worship in southern France is fascinating to watch. Would recommend for anyone looking for a more religious or spiritual film.
