Not Just for Puzzle Enthusiasts submitted by Meginator on July 1, 2018, 10:16pm This is a great documentary whether you love crossword puzzles already or are interested in good features about niche subjects. This film focuses primarily on the New York Times crossword and on the annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. The documentary provides useful background information about crossword design, including interviews with several puzzle creators and enthusiasts, which puts the competition in context. The filmmakers do an excellent job of maintaining tension as they follow the tournament’s top contenders, with an unscripted twist in the final round. Definitely check out the brief bonus featurettes on specific crossword puzzles as well, including one mind-melting puzzle with two sets of correct answers in its middle section.
