On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage the Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary, and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways.

It brought me nearly to tears at one point, but the rest of the movie was hilarious, and I've got one of the songs stuck in my head now...

Okay Muppet Movie submitted by ks1287 on August 2, 2013, 7:36pm I had really high hopes for this movie as a lifelong Muppet fan, but I was a little disappointed. The idea of getting the Muppet theater back up and running after falling into disrepair is a good story line, but Jason Segal being the brother of a muppet was a bit of a stretch. Overall, it's a fun movie and I loved all the celebrity cameos, but it wasn't my favorite Muppet movie. Also, I'm surprised they won the Academy Award for best original song. Again, it was cute but I didn't think it was anything incredibly special.

A Very Muppety Film submitted by Meginator on August 2, 2017, 3:02pm As a lifelong Muppet devotee, I had high expectations for this film, and I was not disappointed. Some things have changed about the Muppets over the years, but this film, clearly written and made by fans who understand the Muppets' core values and appeal, gets to their hilarious and loving heart. The plot itself is straight out of the Jim Henson playbook and suits the reinvention perfectly, the humor is as manic and self-referential as ever, the cameos are part baffling and part hysterical, and the story is surprisingly deep and emotionally resonant. "Pictures in My Head" is a perfect encapsulation of the Muppets, just phenomenal, and provides the film's absolute high point, the culmination of millions of fans' journeys with this zany puppet crew. While the movie sometimes goes for the low-hanging fruit, to its occasional detriment, it is a fitting tribute and a worthy addition to the Muppet canon.
