Freudian Flick submitted by markwells on April 15, 2012, 11:54am Someone please give me a reason why I should have liked this movie. I wanted to. I really wanted to, but between all the psycho-babble and the mumbling and bumbling of Freud and Jung I diagnose this movie...boorrriiiing! D+

Not interesting enough submitted by crazypockets on July 19, 2012, 5:32pm I checked this movie out because I was interested in learning more about Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, and I think this movie did a good job of showing that. But much as I tried, I just couldn't be that interested in it overall. I did like how it showed the differences between the two men's thinking styles, but I could have done without the whole romance element. I can see what Keira Knightley was going for, but her performance was just more disturbing than anything, and I don't think in the way she meant it to be. Anyway, not the best historical drama I've seen.

Good submitted by ferielp on August 24, 2017, 2:07pm Nice to see a dramatization of the men psychology remembers as it's pioneers, as well as the women who made it all possible but are often passed over despite their importance.

The beginning of psychoanalysis submitted by mandevil on March 13, 2019, 2:34pm Good historical drama

Dramatic! submitted by kbahleda on June 20, 2019, 10:07am Interesting to learn a little about the background of psychology. Such a different role for Knightly!

Low Point for the Director submitted by jibkidder on July 25, 2022, 12:49pm Freud, Jung, Cronenberg - 3 men who interest me so much! Yet, a when the 3 men meet, it's in a movie that falls completely flat for me. In particular, it is Knightley's overwrought performance that bothers me the most. But all around, a bore compared to the rest of his oeuvre. In a way, this film calls to mind PTA's "The Master" - it is similar for both it's historical basis and it's uncharacteristic absence of humor.
