Does Justice to the Book submitted by drouhardte on July 19, 2012, 10:10am Pratchett’s work really translates wonderfully to film. I suspect that the complexity and completeness of his world has threatened filmmakers in the past, but thus far there is a 100% success rate in the conversions. While I found Hogfather to be a little more immersing (there were more fantastical elements pushing that particular story of Ankh-Morpork), Going Postal is a very welcome addition to the slowly growing Pratchett-on-film collection. It’s well-cast and convincingly acted (special honors to Claire Foy and Ian Bonar for terrifically fun performances), and the story is, of course, wholly rewarding. There’s little not to enjoy here, from the introduction of the new communications technology (hint: mobile!) and the way that the business owner “plans” to implement it, to the thick layer of mucus that seems to be perpetually secreted from a particularly evil character’s skull. If you enjoy Douglas Adams, Terry Gilliam, or the wild and wacky film version of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, you’re probably already aware of Pratchett. If not, get started!

A fun adaptation submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 11, 2012, 8:06pm A fun adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel of the same name, the movie follows con man-turned Post Master Moist von Lipwig as he tries to get the Ankh-Morpork Post Office back on its feet after years of neglect. Despite his previous misdeeds, we find ourselves rooting for Moist and enjoy the movie's end.
Clever viewers will recognize David Suchet, who previously played Hercule Poirot, as the villain trying to sabotage Moist's efforts. Pratchett himself makes a brief cameo at the movie's end.
The book (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1227413) touches on such important topics as racism and workers' rights, which is why I recommend reading it first.

Not Bad submitted by Julian Reinhart on June 23, 2013, 7:37pm This movie is not that bad. It sticks to the plot of the book pretty well, but I don't like grey haired Vetinari; he should have black hair.

Made a new fan submitted by Parzykat on July 26, 2014, 4:23pm This is such a fantastic movie! I watched it several times and was so enamored with the characters and world that Terry Pratchett created that I just had to read the book as well. I'm definitely a Pratchett fan now! :)
