COMMUNITY REVIEWS

An absolute joy submitted by redwood on June 13, 2021, 6:02pm A fantastic cast of queer comic characters, across the current events of several decades. Hilarious, sobering, deeply relatable.

An Essential Read submitted by mr413 on July 19, 2022, 10:07pm The title says it all, really! This is a fanstastic dive into lesbian history (and to a certain extent the broader queer community as a whole) - in a sense, it feels like learning about old family history, complete with the feelings of "Wow, I can't believe that that's how things used to be!" alongside "Oh, that hasn't changed at all!"

The characters are compelling and incredibly relatable, the writing is cutting and hilarious, and the art is very detailed and clearly done with love (shoutout to the great one-off lines snuck into newspaper headlines and t-shirts throughout the comic). As an added bonus, you get to see how the art style develops through the years, and see how the comic is shaped by the political landscape around it.

I will say that certain parts of the comic have not aged as well as others, so do be prepared for some casual biphobia and transphobia (particularly in the earlier part of the comic), but overall this is an insightful and hilarious read that I'd absolutely recommend!

Hilarious and relatable view into queer history submitted by mknappe on July 26, 2023, 6:11pm As young lesbian myself it was fascinating to see both how much and how little the community has changed since this comics inception. I related to the characters and was moved to see so much of myself represented in the page. I also learned so much about queer (and even broader U.S. history). It is well written with a perfect balance of humor and heart.
