COMMUNITY REVIEWS

An essential album submitted by Richard Lee Pierre on August 18, 2019, 10:27pm Most of the songs here are primarily Chan and her guitar, sometimes with a few backing musicians. It's a stark album -- like something you'd listen to in an abandoned house in a field at night with the lights out. But out of that starkness, a tremendous emotional range emerges, touching on everything from fear to love to spirituality to friendship to hate to mortality to mental health to things that will touch you but just can't quite be characterized. Cat Power has given the world something real.

Crossroads submitted by jibkidder on July 24, 2022, 9:05am The record is Chan at a crossroads - not as raw and dirty as her first efforts, but still way more personal and fluid than the more polished work that would follow.
