Still excellent, but feels a bit muddled submitted by dimuziom on June 15, 2013, 9:46pm Scott Pilgrim is overall an incredible series, but books 4 and 5 feel kind of confusing and one wonders how O'Malley is going to be able to wrap it up in an interesting way. In addition, the conflict with the "Evil Ex-es" thing starts to feel a little repetitive. Despite this, book 5 truly reveals what has been hinted at previously: that the video game style battles aren't really the central conflict of the story, and we learn more about what's really going on (though the real payoff isn't until book 6). If you're reading the series and find yourself losing interest at this point, stick with it because book 6 makes it all worth it in the end.
