Captured a Moment submitted by jibkidder on June 23, 2022, 7:49am Like a lot of big records, for example, "Nirvana's Nevermind", this record captured a lot of things that were floating in the air at the time and combined them in a way that defined a moment. When this came out, personal computing was really changing the world in a profound way. As a result, the ambient work of, for example Eno, sort of took on a different feeling, and the work of Aphex Twin felt really new and exciting. A lot of us were starting to feel a little bit cyborg, and while there was a lot more optimism about technology than we have these days, there was still a bit of the sadness of technological loneliness and the dread of a machine future in the air. This record made of stew of those moods and it was a band statement the group never surpassed.
