COMMUNITY REVIEWS

skip this submitted by eapen.binu on January 10, 2012, 3:14pm An excellent under-used cast, a decent director, 168 million$ budget...yet a sorry excuse for a sci fi movie.

Worthy submitted by markwells on January 11, 2012, 8:23am War of the Worlds meets The Wild Wild West. Not a perfect film by any stretch but an interesting concept and an entertaining fun film. B-.

Not Very Good submitted by tree64 on June 15, 2012, 2:18pm The plot of this movie was not bad, except it was acted out and presented pretty badly. Most of the actors are very famous, but what they are told to act out just doesn't seem to fit. The concept was not bad, but the way the movie flows is not good, and the ending is pretty bad as well. Even if you like science fiction films, I would recommend that you skip this movie, as it is not very good and not worthy.

Fun but shallow submitted by cherylo on July 4, 2013, 3:13pm The plot was somewhat interesting, and I believe that the choice to have almost no exposition was a good one, but ultimately it's a bunch of ideas that didn't quite gel. There are better things to watch, but if you're just in it for the effects and seeing Olivia Wilde nearly unclothed, you might still enjoy the two hours it takes. You won't get them back afterward, though.

Funny submitted by crazypockets on August 2, 2013, 2:13pm This movie is exactly what you'd expect. It's some cowboys fighting some aliens. I thought the action was good, and it was a fun ride overall if you just go with it and don't expect too much.

Eh submitted by Pumpkinscones on August 3, 2013, 10:37am Want to turn your brain off for a little while - this isn't the movie to do it as my brain kept rebelling against Daniel Craig's wavering accent bouncing between every cowboy movie I've seen. Jon Favreau tries so hard with his movies and I enjoy them but I think he sometimes overstretches what the script is capable of. They try hard for character development when all you need out of a movie like this is comfortable stock characters blowing aliens up in the wild west. The aliens themselves are again of the insectoid Independence Day style and I'm getting bored with them. No more insects. Let's get back to little pale grey guys. Or sentient chairs and tables. That would be sweet.

Ugh submitted by ishhewitt on July 14, 2016, 5:37pm I wanted to like this because my man Daniel is in it, but it's a terrible movie. It's really honestly quite bad.

It Is What It Is submitted by Meginator on June 16, 2017, 10:33am I really, *really* wanted this movie to knock my socks off. What an odd, potentially brilliant concept. Unfortunately, the whole thing kind of falls apart for many reasons, including indifferent acting and strange plotting. The movie never goes completely off the rails, which will probably prevent it from ever reaching cult status, but if you go in expecting only to be entertained for a couple of hours it certainly fits the bill. Just be sure you have some popcorn!

Funny submitted by jduffy12 on August 10, 2019, 2:39pm Funny movie. Good plot
